Writer’s Strike

Anyone else wishing this writer’s strikewould end?  I understand their reasoning for the strike another way the Internet has changed the world of writing and the effects of such change in the real world, but for purely selfish reasons I wish they would come to an agreement already so that the shows I am addicted to would be put into reruns like the late night shows.   I find it interesting how the entertainment industry is trying to deal with the internet and downloading age we are currently in.  I wonder how long it will be until cds and dvds eventually become extinct because it is inevitable the question is just how long will it take.  And how will they keep hackers, who are constantly on their game coming up with new programs, from creating free down loading sites like Limewire?

Donald Farrell

I just received an email today stating that Farrell’s viewing will be held November 2nd at 7-9 p.m. at Par Troy Funeral Home.  His funeral will be the following day on November 3rd at 10 a.m. at Saint Catherine’s Church.  All my wishes and condolences go out to Farrell’s family and friends.  Again, i can’t believe something like this could happen on Rowan’s campus.  I hope further secutiry is being taken seriously.

I don’t think that their is one person to blame the Columbine massacre completely on.  I think that their are a lot of things to consider in the situation like the parents of the shooters and the entertainment industry.  In the Columbinearticle, it explains that it’s hard to completely control various students from different backgrounds.  I completely agree with this.  Laws and regulations won’t completely solve the problem.  There needs to be more than that done.  I think it’s important to have physical communion, like  Schroeder said, with others rather than always being on the Internet or playing video games all the time.  It’s important to socialize with others and to not seclude yourself from the rest of the world.  Sometimes children play video games and the think that the violence that is going on the games is OK to do in real life.  It’s hard for a young child to determine that the violence in the game is fake and not real.  I never really thought of Columbine being too associated with video games and the Internet.  I honestly just thought of it as two kids who just went on a shooting rampage because of anger issues that they had in their lives.  I think it’s a good thing for children to have access to a computer and to the Internet but I think that it should be supervised.

A Tragedy…

Last night around 9 pm a Rowan University student was hit, stabbed, and robbed by 3 male suspects. The victim was approached by the 3 males near the Xpress Foodmart. The police suspect that the 3 males were not Rowan students. No update on the status of the victim, besides that he is being taken care of in the hospital.

I hope these 3 suspects are caught….as for the victim, get well and stay strong. We’re all thinking of you.

I can not believe that such a crime would occur near Rowan’s Campus, we need to stop this before it gets out of hand.
